New Trips 2012
Kayaking Trips in Argentina & Chile

Rafting and paddling from the Andes in Argentina across Chile to the Pacific is one of our favorite new adventures. We will start in Puerto Varas, Chile, where a snow-capped volcano overlooks a large lake at the edge of town. If we arrive early, we will raft an exciting stretch of the Petrohue River. The next morning, we're off on a four-hour drive to Bariloche, Argentina, an area often compared to the Swiss Alps. Here we'll raft the Rio Manso and spend the night in a cabin deep in the Andes.
We will float our way towards the Chilean border, and as we pass the town of El Bosun, we will switch to sea kayaks, cross Lago Puelo, and enter Chile, paddling the Rio Ventisquero and the Rio Puelo. As we spend the next several days paddling to the sea, we will stay in small cabins and little homey lodges and then camp out for several nights. Our hosts will cook authentic Chilean dishes and treat us to the mouthwatering "asado," better known as the Chilean barbecue. Along the way we will pamper ourselves by soaking in the Sotomo hot springs and paddle out to Mari Meli Island, with its colony of sea lions. We end our trip at the tiny fishing village of Cochamo and return to Puerto Varas for our traditional farewell dinner.
