Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is strongly suggested for all of our international kayaking trips. We have included a brochure for travel insurance through a company that we have found to be excellent. When traveling in remote places such as Bahamas, this insurance is a sound investment.
Travel Documents and Currency
A passport or photo ID plus certified birth certificate is all that is required for entry and travel in the Bahamas. US currency is accepted at par in the Bahamas. It is recommended that you bring small denomination travelers checks or cash.
Health and Fitness
Our trip is one that any reasonably fit person can enjoy. If you have never paddled a kayak before, you should try it at a local outfitter or retailer. We will provide instruction appropriate to the skill levels represented in our group once we gather in the Bahamas. Each participant should be capable of paddling for approximately 6-8 hours each day with land breaks every hour or two. Please complete the enclosed personal medical form. There are no extra vaccinations suggested.
Weather
We’ll be in the Bahamas for the best weather of the year! The typical time for northern winds bringing cold continental weather with them will be past, and hurricane season will not have started. We will also miss the summer rains and hot weather which starts in May and June. We feel the weather is generally perfect, with April air temperatures averaging 75 degrees F., and average monthly rainfall is less than 2 inches. We should, of course, be prepared for a brief out-of-season northerly front. Evenings are generally mild.
We supply kayaks, lifevests, paddling jackets, tents, cooking equipment and food for our trips.
