New Trips 2012
Kayaking Trips In Brazil

This journey will take us down Brazil’s “Costa Verde,” where some of the most beautiful beaches in the world can be found. We will start the trip in Paraty, a charming, old colonial town surrounded by emerald green mountains. This was the center of the gold trade. Walking down the cobblestone streets is like going back in time. From here we will start our paddle down the coast, enjoying the protected bays and the islands nestled in their waters. We will also get the opportunity to visit Brazil’s only tropical fiord and see a Golden Lion Tamarin. This brightly colored monkey is on the endangered species list but is often spotted along this coast. As we paddle the islands, we will visit the remote fishing villages of the Caicara culture and enjoy the fresh fish and shrimp they catch. Our days will be spent exploring hidden beaches covered with gold colored sand and swimming and snorkeling in the clear blue waters. Along the way we will visit a “cachara distillery,” one of the original sugarcane rum mills and visit a 17th century sugar plantation. Our lodging will be at guesthouses, and we will have plenty of time to relax and interact with the local people. We will also swim in jungle waterfalls, explore the mangroves with its abundant bird life and take a walk in the Juatinga Eco-Reserve.
