Kayak Trips in Mongolia Date: June 18 - 28 Cost: $3150
Containing two percent of the world's freshwater, Lake Hovsgol is an adventurer's paradise. This large body of water is the deepest lake in central Asia and is the 14th largest source of fresh water -- containing nearly 2% of the world's fresh water. It is sacred to local people, who name it ?mother.? The lake has water that remains pure enough to drink and it is surrounded by rugged mountain peaks and larch forests inhabited by nomadic herdsmen and a wide collection of flora and fauna.
Lake Hovsgol offers numerous activities such as horseback riding, mountain biking, and sea kayaking. Each day's activity incorporates cultural opportunities to experience the native lifestyle as well as opportunities to get photographs of the wildlife that inhabits the surrounding countryside.
We'll experience Hovsgol's expansive beauty in a variety of ways. During the first half of our stay, we will sea kayak along the remote eastern shore, and have access to our escort ship where we will sleep and dine. The second part of our trip we will float down the Eg River. The Eg offers us further opportunity to get acquainted with local culture and customs. Some nights we will stay in a traditional Mongolian gers.
